Two faculty of CEIT attend the International Electronics Conference and Expo Philippines

iecepEngr. Alexander T. Demetillo  and Engr. Jerry B. Halibas attended the International Electronics Conference and Expo Philippines 2011(IECEP 2011) held at SMX, Mall of Asia, Pasay City  last Nov 3-5, 2011. The theme for this year’s convention was “Electronics Engineers: Industry, Innovation and Ingenuity”.

Aside from the usual technical sessions/seminars, the convention also showcased various products from almost 50 leading ICT company. The convention introduced the 1st IECEP academe forum in which problem of the academe were discussed specially on the matter of how to maintain our status as supplier of quality electronics engineers in the world, among the topics discussed were as follows: Board exam questions and results; application to become an Asean or APEC engineers; and PRC reiterating that only licensed engineers are allowed to teach ECE subjects including mathematics discussed with Engr. Silvia Marcelo, Chairman of the Board of examiner for ECE, as the guest and resource person.

One of the highlights of the convention was the paper presentation of various cutting-edge researches done by electronics engineers. Projects for biotechnology were presented but discussion was limited due to the fact that the project was funded and patented by foreign institution. Robotics, embedded system and antenna projects by DLSU, MIT and other top ECE school in Manila were also presented.

Other highlights aside from project presentation and academe forum were the following: technical seminar for broadcast, ICT and Electronics, Miss IECEP, Bit the Bees( JIECEP Quizbowl) and the Annual General Membership (AGM) for IECEP. Participants of the convention earned 20 CPE points. 60 CPE points are needed to renew ECE license which is valid for 3 years.
