IT Department launches Microsoft Live@edu Email Service

Microsoft Live@edu email service was successfully launched to the Information Technology (IT) Department students of the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) - Caraga State University last June 22, 2011 at Sanchez Gymnasium, Ampayon, Butuan City.  
The launching was given emphasis during the Information Technology Department Orientation 2011 to support its effort of replacing the current Email System of the CSU faculty, staff and students to Microsoft Live@edu Email Service. Services include Live@Edu Mail, Collaboration System and Online Communications for all students of Caraga State University. Aside from 10 GB lifetime email account, Live@edu also provides amount of productivity and collaboration tools, which include 25GB of skydrive, great calendar including group calendaring functions, blogging tools, chatting, facilitates sharing to other sites (e.g. facebook, blogger, youtube) and work with Microsoft Office documents through the web browser. 
 
The launching was facilitated by Mr. Junace J. Acera, an IT faculty and currently the CSU web administrator with the valuable support of Engr. Alexander T. Demitillo, ECE, CEIT Dean and Jaymer M. Jayoma, MSIT, IT Department Chairman. 

During the discussion, students were instructed to log in to www.outlook.com using their firstname and middle name’s initial plus the family name as username and “password” as password. They were also reminded to change their password for security reason and to continually use and enjoy its services.   

At present, all IT department students are enjoying the services offered by Microsoft Live@edu, while the Information and Communications Center (ICT) headed by Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil is on the process of making Live@edu functional and accessible to all Caraga State University students.
